Assistant Store Manager




Responsible for creating, fostering and developing a safe, engaging work environment resulting in efficient execution of store operations in an unrivaled customer experience. The Assistant

Store Manager is accountable for:


  • Customer engagement

  • Execution of key company strategies

  • Inventory management

  • Driving merchandise sales

  • Pet safety


Principle Accountabilities

May include, but not limited to, the following:


  • Responsible for leading and holding team accountable for driving DOGPerfect’s mission, core values, vision and strategy every day.

  • Responsible for working with the Store Manager to achieve the financial plan for controllable expenses.

  • Responsible for the development of leadership staff by coaching in weekly one on ones with direct reports.

  • Responsible for following all inventory management processes to guarantee the appropriate levels of in-stocks are available to all customers.

  • Execute required shrink and safety activities including, but not limited to, monthly meetings and walks.

  • Responsible for performing freight processing and other inventory management activities including, but not limited to, pricing, planning and plan-o-gram execution.

  • Responsible for creating a culture of engaged associates who have the skills to provide an amazing customer experience and build the basket.

  • Utilize reporting tools to achieve key performance indicators.

  • Responsible for maintaining store operations in absence of Store Manager.

  • Responsible for managing facilities maintenance process.

  • Fosters a culture of diversity and inclusion with associates creating an engaging environment.

  • Ensures the safety and security of customers, pets, associates, and other visitors at all times.

  • Follows all company policies and procedures.


Leadership responsibilities

Typically supervises 1 to 3 key holders and up to 15 (non-supervisory) associates. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with DOGPerfect’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and coaching associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The assistant store manager is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance. The assistant store manager must frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and or move in excess of 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception.


Exposure to live animals and their handling is common.
