Though teaching a dog to listen is a process, it doesn't have to be a drag. Sarah's friendly and personable teaching style invites all who come to her class to enjoy themselves and learn together. Class sizes are limited to six dogs or puppies, enabling Sarah to get to know each individually. Each six-week session is designed to teach the human students, as well as the dogs, how directions can communicate structure and result in a safe, happy, civilized life for everyone. Families are welcome; children under five must be chaperoned by an additional adult.
PLEASE NOTE:
Classes are held in Katonah, NY.
The classes are offered at four different levels to accommodate the age and abilities of each dog:
Puppy Kindergarten: Age-3 1/2 to 6 months
Have a blast with your puppy while setting him on the right track! Sarah's Kindergarten classes offer 10 minutes of free-play time for socialization (large and small dogs are separated), problem solving for woeful puppy parents, and early training in the basic commands: come, sit, down, stay, heel and no.
Grade School: Age-Over 6 months
Whether your dog is beginning to ignore you and misbehave, or you simply want a structured class to work on the basic commands, Sarah provides a welcoming setting for you to reach those goals. Mindful of busy lifestyles, she goes beyond the explanation of how to train specific directions into how to utilize them day-to-day. Each class is forty-five minutes long, with a fifteen minute Q & A and group socialization period.
High School: Trained dogs over 9 months
Once you and your dog have mastered the basic commands on leash in a class setting, the world begins to open up to you. This course teaches off leash control, focusing on instructing both dogs and their people to handle life's constant little distractions. If your goal is to move onto a specialized outreach program, such as Agility™ or Pet Therapy, this course will set you on your way. Each class is 50 minutes with a ten minute Q & A and socialization period.
College: Offered a couple of times a year by invitation only, Sarah teaches a five dog class how to truly strut their stuff! Trick-training and preparations for Pet Therapy examination are just a couple of the cool things you and your dog learn in her College course.
